Columbus police department gets Freedom Shrine

Want to brush up on your American history?

Head over to the Columbus Public Safety Center and you can view copies of 32 significant documents in American history, including the Bill of Rights, the Monroe Doctrine and the Emancipation Proclamation.

The documents are part of a new Freedom Shrine, presented to the Columbus Police department by The Exchange Club of Columbus and North Columbus Wednesday afternoon.

Scott Drew, the president of the Exchange Club of Columbus, said the public safety center was a great venue to display the documents.

"A lot of folks don't have the opportunity to read these documents and realize what's in them," Drew said.
