Man accused of robbing his mother

Columbus police arrested a man Sunday morning on accusations he robbed his mother.

Robert Fary, 54, is charged with robbery, theft by taking and two counts of simple battery, reports state.

According to police, Fary punched his mother several times as he demanded the keys to her Saturn SL1. The mother gave Fary the keys to stop him from hitting her, and he then stole the car.

Fary drove to a 26th Street home, where he began arguing with a woman. At some point, Fary pushed the woman and left the home, reports state.

Police say they found Fary about 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the Saturn a short distance from the 26th Street home.
