Suspect arrested in Springer Opera House burglary

Columbus police arrested a man late Sunday on accusations he burglarized the Springer Opera House, reports state.

Chad Whelchel McDonald, 32, faces one count of burglary, police said.

According to reports, someone spotted McDonald inside the 103 10th St. theater about 9:40 p.m. Sunday. Police responded to the theater, identified McDonald as the suspect and then went to his Hamilton Road apartment.

McDonald declined to speak with officers, and he was then arrested, reports state. It’s unknown if anything was taken from the opera house.
