Two men facing possible death sentences in the 2008 slayings of a Russell County couple pleaded guilty Tuesday to murder and were sentenced to two consecutive life sentences, authorities said.
Brandon Ramone Hall and Tarrance Mays, both 23, faced capital murder charges in the July 2008 deaths of Quincy Davidson and Monique Reid. Davidson, 24, and Reid, 27, were found inside their mobile home in late July 2008 — some four weeks after authorities believed they died. Authorities pointed to robbery as a motive for the slayings.
Hall and Mays faced the death penalty if convicted of capital murder. Prosecutors reduced those charges to murder when they men pleaded guilty.
“I think it’s a good resolution,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Buster Landreau. “It gets these people off the street for a long, long time.”
