2 charged with drug offenses at CVS

Two women were arrested early Monday on drug charges outside the Hilton Avenue CVS Pharmacy, Columbus police said.

Courtney Waters, 35, and Brenna R. Kortbawi, 28, face charges after police spotted them about 1 a.m. Monday at the 3617 Hilton Avenue business, reports state.

Police say Waters walked inside the pharmacy early Monday, saw an officer and then walked back outside. The officer knew Waters had an outstanding arrest warrant and told her to stop.

That’s when Waters ran from police, leading the officer on a short chase before she was caught, reports state.

Police found two bags of meth, a straw, digital weighing scales and several plastic bags on Waters. The officer then made contact with Kortbawi, who’d been seen with Waters. Kortbawi gave police permission to search her vehicle. That search revealed a pipe used to smoke meth and some marijuana, reports state.

Waters remains in the Muscogee County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of drug related objects and obstruction of an officer, records state.

Kortbawi, facing a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana, has since made bond, records show.
