Report of man with gun leads to drug arrest

Columbus police arrested a man on a drug accusation Sunday afternoon while searching for an armed suspect, reports state.

Markeye Banks, 22, is charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, police said.

According to reports, police responded about 7:40 p.m. Sunday to the area of Warren Williams Homes on 12th Street about an armed man wearing a white shirt and jeans. An officer arrived at the scene and spotted Banks, who matched the suspect’s description.

The officer approached, and Banks told him he had marijuana in his back pocket. The officer then found 10 small bags of marijuana worth $100, reports state.

Police say nothing about Banks having a weapon. Banks faces no weapons charges, reports state.
