Columbus police say they intend to charge a woman involved in a fatal head-on collision at Double Churches Road at Nature Trail Friday evening.
Police anticipate charging Clintesha C. Matheny, 32, of Columbus once they complete their investigation into the wreck that killed 19-year-old Morgan A. Berryhill, of Box Springs, Ga. and injured several others, Sgt. Tim Wynn said.
“We’re still investigating right now,” Wynn said Tuesday. “There’s some things that will be pending.”
According to reports, Matheny was driving west on Double Churches Road, at Nature Trail, about 6 p.m. Friday with her three young children in the vehicle. At the same time, Berryhill was driving east with 21-year-old Thomas Hutcherson, of Columbus.

Police say Matheny’s 2009 Chevrolet Equinox crossed into the eastbound lane. It then collided head-on with Berryhill’s 1998 Honda Civic, killing her.
Berryhill was not wearing a seat belt, reports state.
Berryhill was pronounced dead at the scene. Everyone else was taken to The Medical Center, authorities said.
Matheny’s two youngest children were later taken to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, where they remain in critical condition, Wynn said.
“Your chances are a lot better with a seat belt,” Wynn added. “Very few fatal injuries do we unbuckle.”
