Police in Opelika, Ala. have learned that skeletal remains found in January in a wooded area off Hurst Street in Opelika are believed to be those of an African-American girl around 4-7 years of age.
The information was received Tuesday through the local Federal Bureau of Investigation office from its laboratories in Quantico, Va.
This can help in identifying the victim because now police know just what they are looking for and can discount other possible victims.
"It narrows the field," Opelika Police Capt. Bruce DeLong said.
