Carmike Cinemas and Emerging Pictures will present "I Vespri Siciliani" ("The Sicilian Vespers") from Teatro Regio di Torino in Torino, Italy. The Verdi opera is based on a true story about a 13th century Sicilian rebellion against French forces trying to invade the country. It blends military intrigue with a story of the love between a French duchess and a Sicilian rebel.
The performers include Maria Agresti, Gregory Kunde and Franco Vassallo.
It can be seen live at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Screening Room of Carmike Cinemas at the Ritz. If you can't make it for that screening, the taped opera can be seen again at 7 p.m. June 5.
Tickets are $25.
