Police stop driver for traffic violation, find stolen gun

A Columbus man stopped by police for a traffic violation early Wednesday was arrested for having a stolen gun, reports state.

Tomah Brown, 37, is charged with theft by receiving property stolen in another state, two license tag charges and a turn signal violation, police said.

According to reports, an officer spotted Brown fail to use his turn signal about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday at Oates Avenue and 44th Street. The officer then approached Brown’s vehicle and saw a holster hanging from the stick shift.

Brown then told the officer he had a pistol in between the seat next to him. The officer checked the serial number on the gun and discovered it’d been reported stolen out of Alabama, police said.

Brown was then arrested.
