Gardening is the topic at Pioneer Park for Second Saturday

Second Saturday at Pioneer Park has become a destination for a lot of people in the area.

This month's Second Saturday, on June 9, will focus on "Garden Bounty."

The program is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. EDT at Pioneer Park in Loachapoka, Ala., four miles west of Auburn on Ala. 14.

Charles C. Mitchell and Tia Gonzales will "walk and talk" through the gardens at 10 a.m. EDT. The gardens include the crops, herb, "Grandma's," bog, vegetable and kitchen.

Pioneer Park will also feature traditional demonstrations including blacksmithing, dulcimer playing, spinning and weaving. The park, on 61/2 acres, includes a doctor's office, barn, blacksmith forge, log cabin, cook house, cotton gin office, jail and the 1845 trade center. The trade center is the park's museum.

Pioneer Park is the site of the Lee County Historical Society.
