Columbus police are investigating a reported attempted robbery in Shirley B. Winston Park on Steam Mill Road.
A 17-year-old Columbus boy told officers that Monday night between the hours of 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. three black male teens approached him and wanted to take his cell phone and shoes. He told the three "hell, no."
At that time, according to the police report, one of the suspects struck the victim in the left shin with a metal fence post that left a two-inch gash. The suspects then punched and kicked the victim before running down Steam Mill Road.
The victim was treated by Medic 2 and taken to The Medical Center.
