A driver who sped away from Columbus police early Saturday was caught with about $90 worth of crack cocaine, reports state.
Brain Carter, 34, of Columbus is charged with Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, obstruction of an officer, reckless driving and several other traffic violations, police said.
Reports state an officer spotted Carter about 1:45 a.m. Saturday driving on Cusseta Road with no headlights. Carter wasn’t staying in his lane, and the officer tried to stop his 2000 Dodge Durango at that time.
Instead of stopping, Carter sped up, reaching 97 mph hour at one point, police said. He drove through a red light at Cusseta and Benning roads before stopping.Police say they then found crack cocaine on the driver’s seat. Officers also discovered Carter had a suspended driver’s license.
