Columbus three-year-old dies after being struck by SUV driven by her grandmother

A Columbus three-year-old who was hit by an SUV in her driveway in May has died from her injuries, Muscogee County coroner Bill Thrower said.

Taylor Johnson was pronounced dead at 12:31 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 after being struck by a Chevrolet Blazer driven by her grandmother, Jada Colbert, on May 23. Colbert was backing out of the driveway at 1206 King's Mountain Court at about 1:45 p.m. when Johnson was struck.

She was taken to The Medical Center and later transported to Egleston's Children Hospital in Atlanta.

Thrower said she suffered head trauma, which mostly likely led to her death.

Police said no charges have been filed at this point and the case remains under investigation.
