2 women cited for leaving children unattended in car

Columbus police cited two women Sunday evening for leaving children unattended inside a car, reports state.

Michele Miller, 28, and Latoya S. Richardson, 26, each face a city violation of leaving a child unattended inside a vehicle, police said.

According to reports, an off-duty officer spotted the woman shopping about 7:15 p.m. Sunday inside Big Lots, 5300 Sidney Simons Blvd. Children between the ages of 2 and 9 years old were left unattended for some 40 minutes inside a car while the women were inside.

Police say at least two children were inside the car.

The officer then cited both women with the city ordinance violation, reports state.
