Crime Stoppers seeks public’s help in fraud, vehicle theft case

Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help in finding two suspects wanted for fraud and vehicle theft in Columbus.

Police say a woman’s purse was stolen March 15 from her shopping cart at a local Wal-Mart. The purse had her ID, debit cards and car keys. The woman’s car keys were then used to take her vehicle to a Circle K, where the debit card was used.

Authorities need help in finding two suspects. The first is a white woman, likely 20- to 30-years-old, with blonde hair and a heavyset body. She was seen wearing a white shirt with what appeared to be the word “Georgia” on it, and black jogging pants with white stripes on the side.

The woman bought five packs of cigarettes before leaving with a white man in a dark-colored extended cab or four-door truck with a black toolbox.

If your information leads to an arrest and indictment, you could get up to $1,000.

Crime Stoppers now has three new ways to report an anonymous tip.

Send a text message to 274637 and include the acronym “VACS” in the body of the message.

Install TipSubmit, a free smartphone app, on your cell phone. Users set up their own password and submit information through the app. The app gives users different text areas to type what kind of offense they witnessed, information about the suspects and any vehicles involved in the crime.

You can find the app by visiting the third new way of giving a tip: isolvecrime.com a website dedicated to the local Crime Stoppers. Tipsters fill out a form, similar to the form on the app, and send it to Crime Stoppers.

Tipsters can still call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 706-653-3188.
