Man beaten, robbed outside Wilson Apartments; opts not to prosecute

A man beaten and robbed outside Wilson Apartments Sunday afternoon has decided not to prosecute, Columbus police said.

The beating and robbery happened about 4:30 p.m. outside the 308 building at Wilson Apartments, 3400 Eighth Ave. A 42-year-old man told police that he was visiting a friend in the area when eight suspects approached and beat him, reports state.

The group hit and kicked him several times after he fell to the ground. One of the suspects took his car keys, $27 in cash and four packs of white T-shirts. The suspects then left the area, police said.

The man, injured but listed by police in good condition, said he knew one of the suspects and that they didn’t get along. He then told police he didn’t want to prosecute, reports state.
