Mother and son Tysha and Scott Musick have died in a Phenix City, Alabama, home fire on Meadowood Drive, the Russell County coroner said.

A mother and son died Sunday in a Phenix City house fire.

Tysha Musick, 28, and her 15-month-old son, Scott, were pronounced dead in their Meadowood Drive home at 1:52 p.m., Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. told the Ledger-Enquirer.

They were the only people known to be in the house when the fire broke out, he said.

Sumbry’s initial determination for the cause of death is possible smoke inhalation, but the bodies will undergo autopsies this week at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for a final report, he said.

The cause of the fire wasn’t available. Their deaths remained under investigation Monday, Sumbry said.
