Columbus police arrested a woman late Wednesday on drug charges after they spotted several open beer cans in her vehicle, reports state.
Wendie Denise Stillwell, 41, is charged with possession of dangerous drugs, violation of the Georgia controlled substances act and having open containers, police said.
According to reports, officers responded about 11 p.m. Wednesday to the Shell gas station at 4500 River Road. Store employees had spotted a shoplifting suspect from a previous day sitting in the passenger seat of a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Stillwell, who’s related to the shoplifting suspect, was the Tahoe’s driver. Officers started talking to her and noticed several open Miller Lite 12-ounce beer cans and a half-full Miller Lite can in the driver’s cup holder, police said.
Stillwell was taken into custody, and she asked officers to get her purse which had her ID. Officers then found two bags with prescription pills in them worth a total of $1,080. Stillwell had no prescription for the pills, reports state.
