Jordan High School Student found with marijuana in gym locker

A Jordan High School student was charged with possession of marijuana Wednesday at about 3 p.m. after a coach found him in the gym locker room with the drugs, according to a Columbus Police Department report.

The coach told police that while he was doing a random bathroom check, he saw the student holding a White Owl rolling paper package. After asking the student to give it to him, he found a clear plastic bag inside the package containing marijuana.

The student wrote a statement in which he told police that he found the package in the restroom earlier in the morning but left it where it was. Later, he came back to look inside the package and found the marijuana. He said he came back a third time with another student "because it was weed" and was then caught in possession of it by the coach.

There was 1.4 grams of marijuana inside the package, with a $15 street value, according to the report.

The student was charged with possession of marijuana and taken to the Muscogee County Jail.
