This is the first draft of the budget for the proposed $1 million renovation of the 8-year-old Columbus Public Library, which was a $50.4 million project funded by a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax:

New information desk in rotunda -- $10,000

Rework area at existing circulation desk -- $30,000

Other general refinishing -- $40,000

SECOND FLOOR

AV/digital media -- $100,000

Computers in former periodicals area -- $60,000

New information desk -- $35,000

Quiet area -- $95,000

Study room in genealogy -- $19,000

Rework e-commons and copy room -- $155,000

Other general refinishing -- $165,000

THIRD FLOOR

Refinish public space and other areas -- $10,000

OTHER

5 percent contingency -- $45,850

6 percent design fee -- $55,020
