Update: Man dies in Warm Springs Road car wreck after running from vehicle

Update (Thursday, 12:17 p.m.):

Deputy Coroner Charles Newton said Thursday that the cause of death for Larry Anthony was determined to be blunt force chest trauma.

Update (Wednesday, 12:05 p.m.):

A man died Tuesday morning in a vehicle crash on Warm Springs Road after the driver hit a power pole near Psalmond Road, according to a Columbus Police Department report.

Police responded to the scene at about 2:20 a.m. after receiving reports of a crash near Psalmond Road and Midland Middle School. The driver, 30-year-old Jennifer Baker, told police that she was traveling northeast when a deer crossed her path and she swerved. She told police that she also "may have blacked out."

After swerving, the car hit a 7-foot wide power pole. The collision caused extensive damage to the vehicle.

Investigators noted that the vehicle's exit from the roadway was not consistent with the driver's statements.

Larry Anthony, 50, who was a passenger in the vehicle, allegedly got out of the car and ran a short distance before collapsing after the car struck the power pole, according to the report.

Deputy Coroner Charles Newton said the Harris County resident was transported to The Medical Center and was pronounced dead at about 3 a.m.
