Ja’Keith Tolbert of Brookstone is the Ledger-Enquirer High School Boys Athlete of the Week, based on our online poll.
Tolbert is a senior wide receiver and cornerback on Brookstone’s football team. In the Cougars’ 33-27 overtime win Sept. 20 at home against. Stratford Academy, he caught eight passes for 135 yards, including a 59-yard touchdown. He also returned two kickoffs for 38 yards.
We invited the athletics director at each public and private high school in Muscogee County, Harris County, Chattahoochee County, Phenix City, Russell County and Smiths Station to nominate a male athlete for this poll.
Among this week’s five nominees, Tolbert received 42% of the 26,709 votes from our readers. Voting started Monday and ended at noon Friday. The poll has no limit on the number of times a person can vote. Here are the complete final results:
