Veterinarian Jim Thorsen in critical condition after emergency surgery
Columbus veterinarian Jim Thorsen is in critical condition in a Columbus hospital after emergency surgery on Sunday, according to his family.
Thorsen, 56, suffered a ruptured esophagus and is being treated in the St. Francis Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
The longtime Columbus veterinarian is in the process of shutting down his practice on Veterans Parkway. The property he has occupied for the last 25 years has been condemned by the Georgia Department of Transportation for a road widening project. Animal Health Center is scheduled to close Nov. 30.
Thorsen is a Columbus native and 1975 Hardaway High graduate. His earned his undergraduate and veterinary medicine degrees from Auburn.
