Closer look at Friday night's high school football games

GAINESVILLE AT HARRIS COUNTY

Where: Tiger Stadium, Hamilton, Ga.

When: 7:30 p.m.

Records: Gainesville 9-2. Harris County 9-2.

Last week: Gainesville beat Creekview 42-37. Harris County beat Warner Robins 33-31.

Series: Gainesville leads 1-0. The only meeting came in the state quarterfinals in 2012, a 64-13 Gainesville victory.

You should know: Gainesville, the No. 2 seed from Region 8, has won five straight since losing 26-23 to Lanier on Oct. 10. Gainesville won a state title in 2012. Gainesville is led by quarterback Mikey Gonzalez, who has passed for 2,584 yards. Harris County, the No. 1 seed from Region 1, has won nine straight since opening the season with back-to-back last-minute losses to Central-Phenix City (48-43) and Westside-Macon (35-29). Harris County has never won 10 games in a season. This team tied the record of nine set by last year's team, which lost in the second round to Creekside. Harris County is led by quarterback TaQuon Marshall, who has rushed for 1,217 yards and 11 touchdowns and passed for 1,034 yards and 15 touchdowns. Tae Crowder has rushed for 1,342 yards and 21 touchdowns.

PACELLI AT SAVANNAH CHRISTIAN

Where: Garden City Stadium, Savannah, Ga.

When: 7:30 p.m.

Records: Pacelli 7-3. Savannah Christian 9-1.

Last week: Pacelli was idle. Savannah Christian was idle.

Series: First meeting.

You should know: Pacelli has won three of four since back-to-back losses to Dooly County on Sept. 26 and Marion County on Oct. 3. DeAndre Bowman has rushed fro 1,065 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Vikings lost to Mount Pisgah 40-7 in the first round last season. Pacelli is looking for its first playoff win since the 2006 season, when the Vikings beat Terrell County in the first round and Turner County in the second round before losing to Commerce in the quarterfinals. Savannah Christian has won four straight since losing 7-3 to Calvary Day on Oct. 10. The Raiders went 15-0 and won their only state championship in 2011. Quarterback Joshua Chamblee has passed for 615 yards and 371 passing.

GREENVILLE AT MARION COUNTY

Where: Eagle Stadium, Buena Vista, Ga.

When: 7:30 p.m.

Records: Greenville 5-5, Marion County 10-0.

Last week: Greenville was idle. Marion County was idle.

Series: Marion County leads 5-2, including five straight wins. The last meeting was a 41-0 Marion County win on Oct. 24.

You should know: Greenville is led by quarterback Jamal McKee, who has thrown for 1,841 yards and 19 touchdowns. Marion County is the defending Class A-public state champion. Mike Swaney is 53-7 in five seasons at Marion County. The Eagles have won 15 straight. Quarterback Dustin Eckert, who threw for three TDs in the win over Greenville, has passed for 1,003 yards and 16 touchdowns. Johnny Royal leads the Eagles in rushing with 912 yards.

CALVARY CHRISTIAN AT SHERWOOD CHRISTIAN

Where: Albany, Ga.

When: 7:30 p.m.

Records: Calvary Christian 9-2. Sherwood 9-1.

Last week: Calvary Christian beat Community Christian 26-14. Sherwood beat Creekside 26-20.

Series: Sherwood leads 1-0. The only meeting came on Sept. 26, a 26-20 Sherwood victory.

You should know: Both teams are in their first year in the GICAA. Calvary Christian's football program is in its fourth year of existence. Anthony Santiago leads the Knights with 1,517 yards rushing and 23 touchdowns.
