Columbus Cottonmouths win fourth straight
PENSACOLA, Fla. - As cold as they were during an 0-7 start to the season, that is how hot the Columbus Cottonmouths are now.
The Snakes won their fourth straight Wednesday night, this one a 4-1 pasting of the defending SPHL champions The Pensacola Ice Flyers.
Bryce Williamson scored first for the Snakes. His goal came at the 11:31 mark of the first period. The assist went to Neilsson Arcibal.
Kyle Thomas gave the Snakes a 2-0 lead at the 14:10 mark of the second period on an unassisted goal.
Matt Gingera gave the Snakes a commanding 3-0 lead just 32 seconds into the final period. Williamson and Arcibal got the assists.
Pensacola got its lone goal at 11:25 of the third period.
Shawn Bates, who scored the game-winner in overtime Tuesday, scored Columbus' final goal at 18:47.
Andrew Loewen stopped 35 of 36 shots in goal for the Snakes.
Columbus will return to the ice Friday when it hosts Mississippi at the Columbus Civic center at 7:30 p.m
