Branden Hall, Rayshun Reed return to sideline for Columbus Lions

The Columbus Lions announced Thursday the return to defensive coordinator Branden Hall and assistant coach and defensive backs coach Rayshun Reed.

The Lions led the PIFL in passing defense efficiency. Players Roshawn Marshall and Damian Daniels were first and third, respectively, in interceptions.

"Arena football is a game of offense, but like in most football, defense wins championships," Lions coach Jason Gibson said in a news release. "With Hall and Reed on the sidelines, I always believe they will put our defense in the best position to be successful."

Reed, who is a Columbus native, played at Troy University. In 2004, he signed as a free agent in the NFL by the San Francisco 49ers. He was a member of the team for two seasons and saw action in seven games in 2004.

Hall has been a coach and a player for the Lions. Hall was one of only three rookies to start in all 18 games with the AFL's Los Angeles Avengers in 2007. Hall was on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad in 2004, the year they advanced all the way to Super Bowl XXXIX.
