One person has died in a crash that happened over the weekend, according to the Columbus Police Department and Muscogee County Coroner’s Office.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said the single-car crash happened at 4265 Macon Road. The driver of the vehicle was going at an “excessive” speed and lost control. He clipped a telephone pole and hit a barrier, and the vehicle flipped, Bryan said. The driver was ejected.

The victim was identified as Christopher Ryan Gray, 27, of Hamilton. Bryan said he contacted family to notify them of the death. Gray was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m. Sunday from blunt force trauma to his head and chest.

CPD’s Motor Squad was leading an investigation, the department said on social media.
