Cottonmouths lose on road at Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Matt Robertson scored at the 13:15 mark of the final period to give Fayetteville a 3-2 win over Columbus on Tuesday night.
After falling behind 1-0, Columbus scored twice in the second period for a 2-1 lead.
Matt Gingera tied the game at 8:24 on a power-play goal with assists going to Levi Lind and Andy Willigar.
Louis Belisle scored a short-handed goal at 12:52 to give the Snakes the lead. Shawn Bates had the assist.
Fayetteville's Tyler Sheldrake tied the game at 2 at 16:48 of the second period.
Columbus (21-14-2) remained in fifth place in the SPHL standings, two points behind Louisiana and Mississippi.
The Snakes return home to face Pensacola on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
