Brendan Collins went 4-for-5 with a homer and drove in two runs Wednesday to lead Columbus State to a 12-8 win over No. 26 West Florida and a sweep of the two-game series.
Caleb Kutsche (1-0) allowed five runs on six hits in five innings. He walked one and struck out three in getting the win.
Matt Rodriguez (0-1) gave up seven runs on five hits in 3 2-3 innings and picked up the loss.
CSU (12-7, 3-6 Peach Belt Conference) broke the game open in the sixth inning. The big blow in the six-run inning was a three-run double by Mike McClellan that gave the Cougars 7-2 lead. McClellan then scored on a single by Dustin Averett.

Jackson Oliver also homered for CSU.
Ledarious Clark had a huge day for West Florida. He went 3-for-5, homered twice and drove in five runs.
West Florida (11-7) cut the lead to 9-7 with two runs in the top of the seventh, but CSU added three runs in the bottom of the seventh to put the game away.
CSU returns to action Tuesday, hosting Tuskegee at 4 p.m.
