Murray homers, drives in 4 runs to lead Georgia Tech over Notre Dame 11-7

ATLANTA -- A.J. Murray homered and drove in four runs Saturday to lead Georgia to an 11-7 win over Notre Dame at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Daniel Spingola went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs and Kel Johnson went 2-for-4 and also drove in three runs in the win. Matt Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with solo homer.

Tech jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Murray's homer, his fourth of the season. Tech added two more runs in the second inning. The teams traded two-run innings in the fifth inning and one-run innings in the sixth to make it 7-3 Jackets. Notre Dame closed it to 7-5 with two more runs in the seventh inning.

Tech put the game away in the bottom of the eighth on Johnson's three-run triple. That made it 11-5. The Irish added two runs in the top of the ninth but could get no closer.

Zac Ryan (3-0) gave up two runs on four hits in 2 2-3 innings to pick up the win. Notre Dame starter Brandon Bielak (2-1) gave up six runs on eight hits in 4 2-3 innings and took the loss.

Notre Dame edged Georgia Tech 3-2 in Friday night's series opener.

The Jackets (10-4, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) and Irish (11-2, 1-1) finish the series today at 1 p.m.
