Ebert scores on error to give Auburn 3-2 win over Xavier in 11 innings

AUBURN, Ala. -- Jordan Ebert scored from third on an error by the short stop in the bottom of the 11th inning Saturday to give Auburn a 3-2 win over Xavier at Plainsman Park.

Auburn took the lead in the fourth inning when Daniel Robert scored on a single by Hunter Tackett. Tackett later scored on a double play to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

Xavier picked up single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to even the score at 2-2.

In the bottom of the 11th, Ebert and Daniel led off with walks. Xavier reliever Zach Johnson then came in to face Melvin Gray. Gray hit an infield single to the short stop, whose subsequent error allowed Ebert to score after rounding third base.

Cody Nulph paced the Auburn attack, going 2-for-4. Anfernee Grier (Russell County) went 1-for-4.

Justin Camp (1-0) worked 3 1-3 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win. Johnson (0-1), who threw just three pitches, took the loss.

Auburn defeated Xavier 7-2 Friday night in the first game of the series.
