Columbus State softball loses two at USC Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. -- Columbus State dropped a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at USC Aiken on Friday, 7-2 and 4-3.

CSU led 2-0 in the opener until Aiken scored six times in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Calli Star and McKenzie Fagioli drove in the runs for the Lady Cougars (18-16, 4-6).

Taylor Turner (6-3) took the loss. She gave up four runs -- only one earned -- on three hits and five walks in 4 2-3 innings.

In the nightcap, CSU scored twice in the top of the seventh but couldn't push across the tying run.

Lindsey DeFee walked with the bases loaded to force in one of the runs and Turner hit a sacrifice fly to pull CSU within one.

DeFee (3-7) took the loss.

CSU plays a doubleheader at Francis Marion on Sunday starting at noon.
