Auburn shuts out Mississippi State to open SEC series

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Cole Lipscomb pitched seven shutout innings to lead Auburn to a 5-0 win over Mississippi State on Friday night.

Lipscomb allowed just four hits and four walks. He struck out seven.

Daniel Robert hit a two-run double in a four-run third inning.

Anfernee Grier (Russell County) went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Auburn improves to 16-10 overall and 2-5 in the SEC.

The two teams play against at 3 p.m. Saturday.
