Columbus State's Shanila Chapman wins two individual events

ATLANTA -- The Columbus State women's track finished third in the Emory Classic on Saturday. The CSU men finished fifth.

The Lady Cougars scored 72.5 points to finish third in the 24-team event. Taylor (Ind.) won with 113, while Emory finished second with 112.

Shanila Chapman won the 100-meter dash in 12.14 seconds and the long jump with a distance of 5.55 meters.

Chapman, Rachel Dixon, Tierra Wright and Asha Alexander combined to win the 4x100 relay in 48.45 seconds.

Ashley Johnson won the shot put at 12.56 meters.

The Cougars scored 51 points to finish fifth in a field of 22 teams.

Emory won with 149 points with Marian (Ind.) was second with 128.5.

Zachary Benjamin, Christopher Miles, Norbert Ferrell and Jalen Torbert combined to win the 4x100 in 42.17 seconds.
