High school roundup: Gators' Humphries throws five-inning perfect game

HARPERSVILLE, Ala. -- Lawson Humphries pitched a five-inning perfect game in Glenwood's 14-0 rout of Coosa Valley on Tuesday.

He went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs scored and two RBIs in a 13-1 win in Game 2.

Humphries struck out 11 of the 15 batters he faced in the game shortened by the mercy rule.

HARRIS COUNTY 4, LAGRANGE 1

HAMILTON, Ga. -- Alex Graulich allowed one run on four hits to lead Harris County to a 4-1 win over LaGrange in a game shortened due to rain.

The Tigers led 4-1 going into the top of the seventh. Officials called the game after a two-hour rain delay.

The win moved Harris County into second place in Region 1-AAAAA at 5-3. Columbus remains atop of the region at 7-1. Hardaway and LaGrange are tied for third at 5-4.

Kurt Ornowski went 3-for-4 and Jacob Rovig drove in two runs for Harris County.

Preston Campbell had a home run, a double and drove in three runs to lead Brookstone to an 8-0 victory over Taylor County on Tuesday afternoon.

The win kept Brookstone undefeated in Region 4-A.

Andrew Hamric drove in two runs on a pair of hits. Culver Norred pitched a one-hitter for his third win of the season.

CENTRAL WINS TWICE

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Central scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh -- capped by Dakota Pittman scoring the winning run on a passed ball -- as Central beat Victor in Game 2 of the Ripken Experience Tournament.

Jackson Cook had a triple and drove in two runs.

Central also won the opener, 4-2 over Olentangy. Slade Gorman drove in a pair of runs.
