UNC Pembroke sweeps Columbus State

PEMBROKE, S.C. -- UNC Pembroke swept Columbus State in a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader 2-0 and 4-3 on Wednesday.

In the opener, Kristen Carr got CSU's lone hit, an one-out single in the fifth.

Katie Sounders (10-10) picked up the win with eight strikeouts.

Lindsey DeFee took the loss. She gave up two runs on three hits and six walks.

In the second game, CSU gave up four runs in the first and didn't score until the top of the seventh.

Calli Star and McKenzie Fagioli had RBI singles for the Lady Cougars (19-19, 5-9).

DeFee (3-9) took the loss in this one as well. She gave up four runs on three hits and retired only one batter.

CSU hosts Armstrong State for a PBC doubleheader. Game 1 is slated for 5 p.m. Friday.
