12 CSU track athletes make PBC All-Academic team


AUGUSTA, Ga. -- With the PBC Championships one week away, 12 Columbus State University track and field athletes were named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team, announced by the league office on Thursday.

Jacob Dirkman (Biology, 3.88 GPA), Nathan Reeves (History, 3.89) and Jalen Tolbert (Exercise Science, 3.48) earned nods to the men's academic team. The women's team featured nine Lady Cougars, including Asha Alexander (Health Services Administration, 4.00), Alice Arnold (Early Childhood Education, 3.56), Kristina Delpesche (Nursing, 3.49), Rayna Green (Exercise Science, 3.51), Lexus Houston (Middle Grades Education, 3.90), Kaitlynn Howard (Communication, 4.00), Shelby Nelson (Management, 3.97), Kayla Parsons (Engineering Studies, 4.00) and Renee Usher (Psychology, 3.50).

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

Both Columbus State teams will next compete at the PBC Championships will be held April 16-18 in Montevallo, Ala.
