The Columbus State baseball team ran its winning streak to eight games with a sweep of Albany State 3-2 and 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Ragsdale Field.
In Game 1, Albany State scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning off CSU closer Trey Watson. But Mike McClellan won the game with a home run to left in the bottom of the seventh.
Kyle Peals started for the Cougars and pitched six shutout innings, allowing just four hits and striking out 11.
In the nightcap, Ryan Pistey (2-1) went the distance, giving up two runs -- one earned -- on five hits.
Matt Nettles hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first.
The games were scheduled for Wednesday, but they were moved up a day with the forecast calling for rain.
CSU (31-11) will host Georgia Regents for a Peach Belt Conference series. Game 1 is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday. A doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. Saturday.
