Bargain hunters may find deals on furniture, toys and other household items Saturday at the Fort Benning Postwide Yard Sale.
The event is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in housing areas on Main Post, Custer Terrace, Bouton Heights, Davis Hill, Lavoie Manor, Patton Village and Upatoi Terrace.
On the same day and during the same time, a flea market is held on Stilwell Field across from the Bryant Wells Fitness Center and Post Office. The flea market is open to buyers and sellers from the post and outside the installation. All must be preregistered and have a booth rented through the Fort Benning Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
Shoppers are encouraged to park in a high traffic area during the yard sale and walk the short distances from one sale to another. The yard sale is open to anyone to buy items but selling is restricted to post residents.
New security measures are in place at Fort Benning. Shoppers who don’t have an authorized identification card are directed to use the Interstate 185 access control point to enter the post in the right two lanes. This is the only control point where buyers are allowed to enter if you don’t have the proper identification.
