Chattahoochee Valley Community College swept Faulkner State 8-0 and 4-3 Saturday in the final series of the regular season.
In Game 1, The Pirates jumped on top 2-0 in the second inning and later went up 4-0.
Jake Maziar went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. Ryan Hagan and Kenny Ford each had two hits and drove in a run.
The Pirates added four runs in the bottom of the eighth to take an 8-0 mercy-shortened win.
Chase Burks (7-1) picked up the victory.
In Game 2, Faulkner State went up 3-0 early. CVCC battled back with Tyler Lynn going 3-for-4. Hagan and J.T. Thomas each drove in runs to close the gap.
The Pirates tied the game in the fourth inning and it remained 3-3 until the bottom of the seventh.
CVCC loaded the bases and the Faulkner State pitcher hit Brandon Whiteford in the back to bring home the winning run.
Bryce Conley (6-1) got the win for the Pirates.
CVCC (37-15, 23-9 Alabama Community College Conference) is currently in second place, a half game behind L.B. Wallace.
L.B. Wallace plays a doubleheader today with Wallace State Selma. A split or two losses in the doubleheader by L.B. Wallace would put CVCC in first place.
