ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Brandon Renford caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Shane McSweeny with 1:04 left in the game to lead Lehigh Valley to a 46-43 win over Columbus on Saturday night.
The Lions had one last gasp when they made it to the Lehigh Valley 17-yard line, but a sack and two incomplete passes forced the Lions to try a 41-yard field goal to tie the game. The field goal was missed.
Columbus quarterback Casey Kacz completed 28-of-40 passes for 293 yards and five touchdowns. He also threw three interceptions, one of which was returned for a TD.
Jarmon Fortson caught 12 of those passes for 99 yards and two scores. Terrance Ebagua caught eight passes for 104 yards and two scores. John Harrus caught the other TD pass.
Kendrick Perry also ran in one for a touchdown.
Lehigh Valley is now in first place at 5-1 in the PIFL. Columbus is 4-2 and hosts Lehigh Valley on Saturday at 7 p.m.
