Phenix City police warn of unapproved Halloween party. Extra patrols planned.
The Phenix City Police Department says a Halloween party advertised on Facebook to occur on Saturday in Phenix City hasn’t been approved, and they’re taking safety precautions.
Police said the event is advertised to take place at 1700 US Highway 280 E in Phenix City, and is meant to be a Halloween and Columbus State University homecoming party.
“This location is not licensed to hold such an event and the business owners have been contacted and advised that no such event has been approved to be held upon the property,” PCPD said.
Police said the department will have additional units assigned to patrol the area with assistance from the Russell County Sheriff’s office.
This announcement appears to stem from a Facebook post made advertising “official CSU homecoming parties.”
One party is advertised for Friday night on Opel Avenue in Columbus, with the other party advertised to occur Saturday in Phenix City.
Phenix City police left a link to their news release in the comments of the post promoting the parties.
CSU said in a statement that its official homecoming events are all listed on events.columbusstate.edu/homecoming.
“Any other events bearing the university’s name are not affiliated with or sanctioned by the university and are being advertised without Columbus State’s permission or consent,” CSU told the Ledger-Enquirer.
