Fast facts about Old Town
Old Town, a master-planned mixed-use development -- zoned "planned urban development" by the city -- is located near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Williams Road in north Columbus. It is accessed by either roadway.
It will not be a gated community, and the streets inside of the development will be narrower than most city streets in order to keep traffic at a slower pace. As Bruce Jones, president of Woodruff Development Co. says, wider streets typically encourage motorists to drive faster, something Old Town's developers do not want.
The Southern Living-inspired homes being constructed in Old Town will have names such as Buttercup, Chantilly, Fairfax, Lily, Repousse and Strasbourg. Prices, subject to change, range from $374,900 for a 2,214-square-foot 3-bedroom, 3-bath Chantilly alternate home to $514,900 for a 4,149-square-foot, 5-bedroom, 5.5-bath Strasbourg home.
The community's 140-unit Swallowtail Flats apartment complex has lease rates from $875 for a 751-square-foot 1-bedroom, 1-bath unit to a starting rate of $1,300 for a 1,360-square-foot 3-bedroom, 2-bath unit.
