Lions place six on All-PIFL team; Ebagua makes first team
Six Columbus Lions were named to the All-PIFL team on Thursday.
Despite the Lions winning the PIFL's regular-season title, only one player made the first team. That was wide receiver Terrence Ebagua, who led the PIFL with 26 touchdown catches.
He also led the Lions in catches (71) and receiving yards (1,070). Ebagua had multiple TD receptions in nine of the Lions' 11 games.
The other five players made the second team. They were fullback Kendrick Perry, offensive lineman Brandon Thomas, specialists Jarmon Fortson, defensive lineman Jerry Willis and linebacker Larry Edwards.
Perry, who had made the first team in each of the past three seasons, finished the regular season with eight TDs.
Fortson had 40 catches -- nine for TDs -- and 13.5 tackles as he played both wide receiver and linebacker.
Willis and Edwards shared the team lead with 7.5 sacks.
The Lions host Richmond on Monday for the PIFL championship. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. For ticket information, call 706-332-3336.
