Update: Schedule for temporary closure of downtown Columbus road has been changed
The schedule to temporarily close a busy downtown street in Columbus has changed.
On Nov. 18 and 19, the section of First Avenue between Ninth Street and 10th Street in Columbus will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, the Columbus Consolidated Government announced Friday.
Outside of these hours, southbound traffic may use this section of First Avenue. The northbound lanes will remain closed as part of the construction project building the Columbus Judicial Center.
This new temporary closure will allow a tower crane to be erected at the construction site. Detour signs will direct drivers along Ninth Street, Broadway, 10th Street, and Second Avenue, CCG’s news release says.
The dates for the temporary closure had been Nov. 11-12.
For more information, about the closure or the project, contact CCG inspections and codes director Ryan Pruett at rpruett@columbusga.org or 706-225-3878.
