A Columbus area native’s award-winning movie will premiere next week on streaming services.
Meredith Riley Stewart, a Los Angeles resident who graduated in 1997 from Central High School in Phenix City, is the producer of the indie comedy “For When You Get Lost,” available for purchase or rent starting Nov. 15 on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and Vudu/Fandango at Home.

Billed as a “heartwarming road-trip comedy that combines family drama, humor and self-discovery against the scenic backdrop of the Pacific Coast,” the movie stars Jennifer Sorenson (“Orphan is the New Orange” and “Exeter”) as the lead character on a “journey through craft breweries, scenic vistas and family confrontations as she attempts to bridge the gaps with her siblings — and with herself,” according to the film’s news release.
“For When You Get Lost” is the creation of an all-female team, with Sorenson, Kerry Carlock and Aletha Root joining Stewart as producers. Michelle Steffes, an award-winning maker of short films, is the director in her feature movie debut.
Along with Sorenson, the movie’s cast includes Elizabeth Alderfer (“A.P. Bio”), Aja Bair (“Euphoria”), Cat Hammons (“Yellowstone”), Adam Chambers (“B Positive”) and Brian Thomas Smith (“The Big Bang Theory”).
“For When You Get Lost” has received these awards:
- Austin Film Festival 2023, Audience Award Winner, Best Comedy
- Cinetopia Film Festival 2024, Audience Award Winner, U.S. Narrative
- Durango Film Festival 2024, Audience Award and Jury Award, Best Narrative Feature
- Julien Dubuque International Film Festival 2024, Audience Choice, Narrative Feature.
Stewart is a producer, actor and founder of Halcyon Content. This is the second feature movie she has produced. Her first was “The Greatest Inheritance,” which was filmed in Columbus in 2019 and released in 2022.
“The Greatest Inheritance” is available on Amazon. Stewart acted in the movie alongside Mena Suvari (“American Pie” and “American Beauty”) and Jaleel White (“Family Matters”).
Stewart’s award-winning short film “American Dream” debuted at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, earned a best actress honor for Julia Garcia Combs at the 2022 LA Shorts Fest and the grand jury prize for best narrative short at the 2022 Seattle Film Festival.
