Columbus has often been known for honoring those who have served the country, and it now has been recognized as one of America’s Most Patriotic Cities.

The list was compiled by Veterans United Home Loans, an organization that helps veterans “buy, sell, and save” when they want to buy a house.

Columbus ranks number 10 among the top 25 metropolitan areas demonstrating exceptional support for veterans and active-duty military personnel, the list says.

“The markets highlighted as the top patriotic cities in the U.S. stand out for the support they provide Veterans as well as for their community’s strong commitment to the democratic process,” Chris Birk, vice president of mortgage insight at Veterans United, said.

The study analyzed 100 of the country’s largest cities and considered several factors to determine the city’s patriotism and support for military communities.

These factors included:

  • The percentage of veterans in the population

  • The number of Veterans Affairs health facilities

  • The presence of military bases

Fort Moore is one of the largest military installations in the US

As a near neighbor, Fort Moore is an integral part of Columbus’ community. There are over 125,000 people in the Chattahoochee Valley who have a connection to Fort Moore. Many former service members choose to make our city their home after completing their military careers.

Beyond just being neighbors with the service-related members of the community, Columbus also strives to give back to those who have served.
