Veterans Day in Columbus: 6 restaurants where veterans, active military can eat free

Monday’s Veterans Day holiday honors those who served in U.S. armed services, and several chains with Columbus locations are offering deals for those who currently or previously served.

Here are six places with deals for Veterans Day.

Applebee’s

Veterans can receive a free entree at Applebee’s on Veterans Day from a predetermined list, according to the Applebee’s website. The listed entrees are the Classic Bacon Cheeseburger, 6 oz. Top Sirloin, Chicken Tenders Platters, Double Crunch Shrimp, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Oriental Chicken Salad, and Three-Cheese Chicken Penne.

Veterans will also receive a $5 Bounce Back card for a future visit within a three-week redemption window, according to the company’s website. This offer is dine-in only. Veterans and active duty military must show proof of military service.

Starbucks

Veterans, military service members and military spouses can get a free hot or iced tall (12-ounce) brewed coffee at Starbucks on Veterans Day, according to the company’s website.

Denny’s

Denny’s is offering a complimentary “Original Grand Slam” breakfast for active and retired military personnel from 5 a.m. until noon on Veterans Day, according to the company’s website. The breakfast features two buttermilk pancakes, two strips of bacon, two all-pork sausage links and two eggs cooked to order.

“Veterans and active-duty military can present with a valid military ID or DD 214 to receive this offer,” the website states.

Red Robin

Red Robin is offering veterans and active-duty service members a free Red’s Big Tavern burger with bottomless fries this Veterans Day, according to the restaurant’s website.

Proof of service is required.

Chili’s

Veterans and active military members can choose a free entree from select items at Chili’s on Veterans Day, according to the company’s website.

Military ID is required to redeem the offer.

“Please call ahead to your local Chili’s if you have any questions about your Veterans Day meals,” the company’s website says.

Hooters

Hooters is offering one free meal from a special menu for active and retired military on Veterans Day, according to the company’s website. The special menu items available are 10-piece boneless wings, buffalo chicken sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, buffalo chicken salad and the Hooters burger.
