Columbus crash leaves one man dead, Muscogee coroner says. Victim identified.

The victim of a fatal crash in Columbus over the weekend has been identified.

The crash occurred on Manchester Expressway near the Miller Road exit, according to a Saturday morning post on the Columbus Police Department’s X page. Police notified the public of the crash just before 10:30 a.m.

Police say the call for the accident came in at 8:47 a.m. Saturday. The accident involved a single truck that had a Little Debbie logo on the side, according to police, though it was unclear if it was a delivery truck.

The victim has been identified as Dennis Mitchell, 68, who was pronounced dead at 9:39 a.m. Saturday, according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

CPD’s motor squad was leading the investigation, according to the post. Police didn’t immediately release more information on the incident.
